My Graduate

Who doesn't love having graduation on a professional baseball field? Especially when said field is indoors and air conditioned in June in Florida with plenty of seats for family and friends. It was very nice. Plenty of room and the stadium even sold sodas, hot dogs and nachos. All of the graduates were given vouchers for four free tickets to the Rays game. Win win for everyone.

Leading up to the moment was hectic. Madison didn't seem to be in any hurry and so as usual with her we got a late start. Which makes me crazy.  I did some ranting and raving on the way to the event, but it all was fine. Madison got there in plenty of time. Kelly had saved plenty of seats for all of us. We found everyone that came to support Madison. The only downside was we chose the wrong path to get in and walked 3/4 of the way around the stadium in our ridiculously heeled shoes.

Madison, fifth one from the front, was one of the first to enter as the students in National Honor Society are given their diplomas first. She graduated summa cum laude with a 4.85 GPA and won outstanding student awards in IB Math SL, IB English, and IB Extended Essay. She had straight A's all four years and was 6th in her class. I'm just a little proud!

The ceremony was short, sweet, and to the point with the valedictorian and the IB valedictorian giving funny, yet poignant speeches. I used a camera for pictures during the event so those will have to come later once I figure out how to download them on to my computer. After the event we had to exit the stadium and work our way through the crowd to find our graduates.

This picture above is Madison with her friend Jenna who was the salutatorian. Maddy and Jenna have known each other since they were six years old playing soccer. They ended up in the same high school in different programs, but they stayed in touch with soccer and various clubs. We were very proud of Jenna and her salutatorian status. She won tons of awards and scholarships and so we had to have a picture of the two.

Now it is on to a bright future. We are so proud and love this kid to infinity plus one! Yay Maddy!
