Monday morning NFL Super Bowl recap 2018

Game:

• I had to laugh at the trick play where Brady handed off to running back James White, who flicked it to wide receiver Danny Amendola who then threw it to wide-open TOM BRADY, who looked like a ballerina as he tried to reach out to catch the ball and missed. Hilarious! Belichick, stick with the guys you got in the positions they play and leave the tricks to the other teams.
• And then the Eagles decided to try a trick play by having their quarterback move to the side before the snap so that he could then become an eligible receiver. The snap went instead to running back Corey Clement, who flicked it to tight end Trey Burton, who then threw it to a wide-open NICK FOLES who was in the end zone and who caught the ball for a touchdown. Nick Foles 1, Tom Brady 0. And this was done on 4th down! Aggressive call and executed nicely.
• Cris Collinsworth did a replay of both quarterbacks' trick plays as wide receivers, but he called Foles catch "breath-taking." Seriously? Breath-taking? 
• What was with the kickers on both teams? Missed extra points left and right. So much for an indoor stadium. 
• Patriots cornerback Malcolm Butler hadn't played on the defensive side by the second quarter, and the word came down it was due to a "coach's decision," and Al Michaels reported it was "easier to get information out of Eastern Germany before the wall went down" than to get it from New England. Tee Hee.
• I half-watched the Halftime show. Jeez, could it be any longer?
• New England came out of the locker room and, in five plays, got a touchdown. They definitely weren't watching Justin Timberlake at halftime.
• There was drama on the Eagles' next touchdown. Collinsworth was against the call, but Corey Clement touched down with both feet before he then bobbled the ball and went out of bounds. The rules will soon be you have to maintain control for five minutes after the touchdown, for god sakes.
• Going great for the Eagles, BUT of course, the Patriots came back and took the lead. Seriously? Why is Gronkowski ever open?
• Defense? What defense? Uh, well, the Eagles were saving their defense for the last two minutes, but who thought running the ball was the best decision? I would have had Foles toss that sucker into the end zone. 
• Cris Collinsworth: "I've seen this movie too many times to think this game is over." Yep, we certainly have. My heart was pumping like crazy. These games always come down to the opposition being tired and the Patriots taking advantage of that. It's their element for sure, but the Eagles held tough and pulled it out. Whew!
• I'm happy for Nick Foles. Now, what will happen? Will the Eagles make him work for the position in training camp? Is he still the back-up? Is he even going to be in Philadelphia next year? Oh my, oh my.

Commercials: Violence seemed to be the theme--wars, fires, Danny Devito as the red M&M getting hit by a bus. Was that supposed to be funny? The best commercials were the US athletes' positive messages for the upcoming Winter Olympics--sports at its best. Extra props for playing This Is Me from The Greatest Showman, the BEST musical, and the GREATEST soundtrack.

• The Australian ad was sneaky. I enjoyed it because I loved the movie, Crocodile Dundee and it was nice to see Paul Hogan get a mention on screen. Well, and Chris Hemsworth is easy on the eyes too.
• I liked Toyota's We Are All On One Team. Kind of cheesy, but shout out to General Hospital's Kathleen Gati as Sister Kathleen. 

• But the better commercial on equality was Change Starts Now with TMobile and the babies. "Welcome to the world, little ones. You come with open minds and the instinct that we are equal. Some people might see your differences and be threatened by them, but you are unstoppable. You'll love who you want. You'll demand fair and equal pay. You will not allow where you come from to dictate where you are going. You will be heard, not to be dismissed. You will be connected and not alone. Change Starts Now." If only babies didn't have rotten outside influences, huh?
• Steven Tyler in the Kia commercial? Definitely, aging with some plastic help.
• My favorite of all? Eli Manning and Odell Beckham Jr. dancing for the NFL commercial. Oh, my, Eli has worse dance moves than me, but Beckham has some groove. Eli isn't Peyton in the entertainment department, but his lift of Beckham? Hilarious and SO much fun.
• I also liked the Alexa commercial. Fun.
• But whoa! HQ commercial after the Super Bowl. Raise the roof for the game that we jumped aboard at Christmas!
