Sunday drive

Sunday, we needed essentials, significant ones that may or may not have included chocolate and a host of other candy. Darcy volunteered to do the run, and Madison and I tagged along in the car. Madison hadn't been out of the house in fourteen days. Not even to step outside into the front yard. She's been way too busy with work and prepping for her grad school interviews, so Darcy suggested we drive around for a bit just to get out of the house.

We visited people we knew. Some houses we drove by and waved, videoing it for SnapChat. Others came outside and chatted--social distancing from six feet away.

We started with a pick-up at Starbucks drive-thru, wiping our cups with disinfectant before sipping. We texted people, and if they didn't come out to wave, we waved anyway. Then we hit the grocery store. Darcy completed the two bag essentials in under ten minutes, and she wore a mask. Madison was ready with the hand sanitizer when she returned, and then we went to Sarina's house to catch up with her for a bit until the rain came, forcing her inside and us back home.

I highly recommend it. Thanks to my cousins in Boston, who encouraged it. It helped with the Sunday blues. It helped with our sanity, clearing the cobwebs. It got Madison outside!
