Monday Sports Talk

  • 12-0  Saints - Their come-from-behind-beat-them-in-overtime charge was pure football joy for fans. Great time out call by Sean Payton under the two-minute warning so that the booth had to review it.
  • 12-0 Colts - Their defense showed how stepping up to the plate makes a difference, and then, of course, there is Peyton Manning. I love me some Peyton Manning!
  • Alabama/Florida - A very boring game despite the big hype. Alabama outplayed the Gators. I'm not much of a college football fan, but became our football pool includes college entries iI have to keep track. I was sorry for Tim Tebow. A good guy doing the right thing finishing college. A great role model for kids.
  • Best line of the weekend - That came from Hines Ward, whose emotional outburst of Ben Roethlisberger earned him some harsh criticism last weekend. Ward told reporters he was thankful to Tiger Woods for knocking him out of the headlines.
  • Charlie Weis heading to Cleveland - Today, a coach loses a football coaching job and he just shrugs because right now there is a plethora of coaching jobs out there. It's probably a good thing for Weis to get back to offensive coordinating. Go get the experience you should have had before tackling the big time. Hear me, Raheem Morris?
  • Steelers lose four in a row - This seems to happen after we win a Super Bowl. A few years ago I blamed Bill Cowher for the awful season. This year I blame the players. This is your job. Get your act together and get out there and play some ball! Act like you want it. I'm putting a fork in them. Dismal season.
