Before we close her up

Yesterday this was Connie's foot (yes, I'm still showing the photos because she likes hearing how squeamish everyone gets) as they removed the wound vac in preparation for surgery.

She had skin grafting surgery this morning to cover the wound.  The surgeon had to use a synthetic material as skin from her own body was not a possible.  I couldn't believe how much the wound had healed from the inside.  Originally I could have stuck my entire pinkie finger inside the wound, but not yesterday.  It was almost completely filled in with tissue.

She did well with the surgery and is now on bed rest until the surgeon takes a look at it again.  Not sure when she can be up and about on it, but when she gets the green light she will most likely be moved into a rehabilitation facility.  Spirits are still high considering her position, but her son visited this past week and helped her "relax".
