This week the appointment was just a look-see before Connie's Integra Graft surgery. The surgery entails a pressure washing of the wound before The Foot God would apply the two layer synthetic graft, holding it on with staples. He has done this once before on her, but for some reason it didn't do a whole hell of a lot.
Connie isn't certain it will do anything this time around, but I have faith; in the Foot God, in Connie's healing ability, and in my willing things so.
She went into surgery at the outpatient center at the hospital on Friday. It was a late afternoon surgery, and while she was quite apprehensive in the beginning, she snapped out of it before they wheeled her off.
She was there at noon and done by 5:30 PM. The plan is to stay off the foot, rest, and not touch it until he sees her next week. Fingers crossed this will speed the recovery up. In the meantime, Connie continues to wheel around her condo taking care of herself and keeping pneumonia at bay. She spends a lot of time with her plants.
This is her herb plant that she thought was basil. My mother-in-law thought it was thyme. Connie's neighbor, who gave her the offshoot that started this growth, says it is Italian oregano. Whatever it is it has taken over Connie's kitchen and she is quite protective and very fond of it.
Between that plant and her pineapple plantation that grows at the bottom of her condo stairs, she is quite the little farmer. If only she could move about more freely.... Fingers crossed!
