Yep. Connie is still dealing with her charcot foot. It gets close to closing and then she has setbacks and the wound opens back up again. She is currently on her second found of the wound healing almost to the point of closure.
Two weeks ago she had another graft from the foreskin of a baby's penis put on the wound and this is the picture upon returning to the Foot God's office for a check up. They are hoping to try another graft, but must dance around insurance issues before that can happen. Her bone in the foot is always going to cause problems in the healing of the foot. Due to her neuropathy she has no feeling in the feet so knowing when they are injured is an added problem.
She is still in the wheelchair and will be there until the foot closes enough that hip surgery might be a possibility. Her left hip is bone on bone so exercise is not possible and the foot makes surgery not possible, not to mention her poor lungs. Her ankles are still swollen which has her wondering about a hidden infection. Her RA is rampant most days. Still she soldiers on enjoying sports on TV and reading and the occasional trip to the grocery, doctor visits, and the library.
Another visit today to the Foot God for him to cut some more, study some more, wrap some more. We are thinking of inviting him to Thanksgiving as he seems to be part of the family now....

Connie just can't seem to catch a break! Praying that she has some relief and hopefully she will continue to enjoy her sports! Indiana basketball is just around the corner and the Celtics have a hoosier for a coach!!!
