Darcy received a letter telling her that she placed 3rd in the Celebrate America Creative Writing Contest that is held nationally. Locally students in the 5th grade write an essay usually using the topic, "Why I'm proud to live in a land of immigrants". Darcy's 5th grade class wrote essays in the spring. First place winners of the local contests go on to compete nationally.
I gave Darcy the letter and she opened it and read aloud:
Darcy: "As the third place winner you will receive a $50 prize. In addition, you will be honored at the American Immigration Lawyers Association Central Florida Chapter Annual Conference Luci-an-o on Friday....
Me: "Wait! What? Luigi-an-o? The word is luncheon."
Darcy: (laughing) "Well, it was so formal I thought it was French."
