89 strong

My MIL turned 89, and we had a party. It began with her eldest grandchild's plan to fly into town with his girlfriend to surprise her. From there, we built a party. Someone made the mistake of mentioning having a party to my MIL and she called people to invite them.

We had quite the turnout. Lots of people. Lots of food. Lots of decorations. Lots of fun.

Even the granddog came. Although Elliot refused at first to leave the car and then when he did, he preferred to stay in the background after people arrived. He did not jump on anyone, nor did he get into the food which was placed at his level. He might be invited back.

Those grandchildren at the party Facetimed those who were not at the party. Two answered one did not, although we know he was in his dorm room since we tracked him there. You can't hide, Michael!!

Wine flowed. Champagne was uncorked. Grandma had a wonderful time and was able to get out of bed the next day to attend her church, where she prayed for all of us. She's already plotting next year's birthday.

Happy Birthday, Mary Anne! May this year be even better than the last! (To make sure of that, we've told her she is only allowed a small table-top Christmas tree this year)
